ILYA RASHKOVSKIY

Born in Irkutsk, Russia in 1984, Ilya Rashkovskiy debuted at age 8 with the Irkutsk Chamber Music Orchestra. He won 2nd place at the Long–Thibaud Competition (2001), 1st place at the Hong Kong International Competition (2005), 4th place at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, 3rd place at the Artur Rubinstein Piano Masters in Tel Aviv (2011), and 1st place at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition. He studied in Novosibirsk, Hannover and Paris with Mary Lebenzon, Vladimir Krainev and Marian Rybicki.

He has collaborated as a soloist with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Mariinsky Orchestra, Orchestre national de Lille, Gulbenkian Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Russian State Symphony and Romanian National Orchestra, among many others. Ilya has performed in prestigious concert venues throughout the world, including the Théâtre du Châtelet, Salle Pleyel, Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Taipei National Concert Hall.

He is also active as a chamber musician, having collaborated with musicians such as Akiko Suwanai, Sayaka Shoji, Gary Hoffman, Daniel Lozakovich, Clara Jumi Kang and Bomsori, as well as the Borodin and Shanghai String Quartets. He has recorded several CDs, including Chopin’s Complete Etudes and Scriabin’s Complete Piano Sonatas.

Since 2017, he has also been a professor at Sungshin Woman’s University in Seoul.

He served as a jury member at the 12th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2024.
